Volume 1, Edition 2 = Summer Newsletter

School is out and I'm summer-adventuring!

Hello lovelies!
I hope this email finds you so well and warm, enjoying the gorgeous summer evenings! Since you heard from me in April I have been:
  • Finishing up school!  I am delighted to report that I have finished my Cranial Sacral Therapy Certificate program from Langara College.  I have 125 hours of practice completed and am excited as all heck to begin my small, home-based practice called Hello Stillpoint!  I have been working on website and will launch all of that in by September 2013

  • Packing up my house!  That's right!  Me, Jim and the kitties will have a new home in two weeks time.  Most thrillingly, this home has a little room that I can all my own.  This will be headquarters for my work, functioning as a private space for my cranial sacral therapy practice and studio for more drawing + creating.  Now that school is over I hope to work in earnest on the Die Awesome Workbook.

  • Exploring hand analysis, the modern incarnation of palmistry!  This has been the most unexpected awesome delightful turn of events.  I discovered my passion for palm reading in late June after witnessing an amazing evening of rapid-fire-spot-on hand readings done by Richard Unger, the founder of the International Institute of Hand Analysis.  His precision, acerbic wit and unique approach to hand analysis as a means to understand one's life purpose deeply resonated with me.  In addition, I came to realize that palm reading has been a mysterious affecting force my life, playing a huge role in my mother's reluctant escape from Vietnam to Canada and subsequently, contributing to her fear of dying early.  I shared some of these experiences on my blog.  You can certainly expect to hear more about this fascinating art as I continue in my training!

Tah dah!
In my first newsletter I said you would hear from my monthly.
That's nonsense.
Monthly is too much :)
Please know you will hear some joanie-style chirping seasonally (Spring, Summer, Autumn + Winter) as I cook up adventures.  If you ever need me, I'm scheming away at www.joantrinhpham.com :)
Much much love,

  • Shared my Die Awesome Workbook dream with the world.  Though I did not win the B-School scholarship amazing things are happening!  I am committing to writing & illustrating the book.  I hope to complete a book proposal by February 2014

  • Working to host Vancouver's first Death Cafe on April 17th               [Update = the first Death Cafe in Vancouver went beautifully, read about it as covered by CTV.ca and reported by your hosting team here]
  • Simultaneous learning about social media & becoming an entrepreneur.  Read Paul Jarvis' awesome resource How to be Awesome at Online Business
  • Related to the above behind-the-scenes doodle schemas = I am goal-setting, conspiring and most importantly, desire mapping my aspirations of using my arty gifts to be an innovative, creative change-maker in the field of death and dying in culture, art and academia :)

I thank you so much for your curiosity & support!  I am so deeply appreciative that you are here with me reading.
Now that I have learned how to use mailchimp,
I will publish a Monthly Digest of Awesome each month at mid-month. It will contain:
3 key highlights
related to work I am doing in the come alive / die awesome (celebrate!) field

my most favorite illuminated doodle of the month

Here's my favorite doodle this month:  Version 2.0 of Pope Francis Wisdom, shared here for you first :)

a #365 Sharing Project on tumblr:
Here is my next scary project: share my doodles + go public as an Art Ninja.  As of March 20, 2013 I'm pledging to a year of doodling and sharing!  It is actually a super delightful practice - it guarantees that I play with doodles and share them!  Amazing.  I will look into making prints to gift and sell as well :)

The Blog:
I created this blog for the purpose of sharing creative work related to death & dying. I hope that it will inspire resonant reflections and honest, courageous conversations about experiences related to death and dying.  I'm having so much fun with it and finding bits to share from all areas (music, poetry, graffiti, art, photography etc!). I'd be delighted if you had a look and shared - here's where contributions & collaborations are most excitedly and joyfully welcome!
