SO MOVED!  Studio Sneak Peek + Celebratory Yard Sale

7/26/2013

Hello dear friends!
I'm so excited.
Jim, the kitties and I are moved in and have been unpacking all week.
I've been setting up my studio space and am at SQUEEEE-level excitement because I am ready to paint a couple accent walls.  THEN, it's game on: a room of my own to create and work! :)

Choosing paint colours now. How thrilling! :)
To celebrate our new home, Jim and I are having a big old yard sale on Sunday. We've invited friends in the neighborhood to come and join us as vendors so it will be a flea-market style affair.  My corner of the sale is aimed at brainy (bookish), bodacious babes with a taste for burlesque flavored clothing. I've got books, jewellery and lingerie too that I'm sending out into the world :) It's not a ton of stuff but it's some of my most favorite stuff that needs to be culled to make space.

Best of all, my mom will be vending on Sunday as well!
"I'm getting old. I could die any time.
I need to get rid of some of this stuff."
- Mommy Pham on sorting through the garage whilst preparing for the yard sale

It will be Pham attack + friends.  A perfect little party in the yard. Woot!  I hope you join us for some lemonade (there will be a stand!) and merriment :)

With much happy squeeping love,

Patience + Persistence

Moving can be such a grind.
Even if the end result promises to be epically awesome.

Books books books.
Things.
So much "OMG, HOW DID I ACQUIRE SO MUCH???"
I'm taking a moment to recharge and inspire myself by reading some Little Woo wisdom about The Secret Twins of Success: Patience and Persistence.  It's an EXCELLENT 4 part series that you can find starting here.  P+P man, off I go to some P+P with excellent tunage in the background :)

xo's and love much,

Volume 1, Edition 2 = Summer Newsletter

School is out and I'm summer-adventuring!

Hello lovelies!
I hope this email finds you so well and warm, enjoying the gorgeous summer evenings! Since you heard from me in April I have been:
  • Finishing up school!  I am delighted to report that I have finished my Cranial Sacral Therapy Certificate program from Langara College.  I have 125 hours of practice completed and am excited as all heck to begin my small, home-based practice called Hello Stillpoint!  I have been working on website and will launch all of that in by September 2013

  • Packing up my house!  That's right!  Me, Jim and the kitties will have a new home in two weeks time.  Most thrillingly, this home has a little room that I can all my own.  This will be headquarters for my work, functioning as a private space for my cranial sacral therapy practice and studio for more drawing + creating.  Now that school is over I hope to work in earnest on the Die Awesome Workbook.

  • Exploring hand analysis, the modern incarnation of palmistry!  This has been the most unexpected awesome delightful turn of events.  I discovered my passion for palm reading in late June after witnessing an amazing evening of rapid-fire-spot-on hand readings done by Richard Unger, the founder of the International Institute of Hand Analysis.  His precision, acerbic wit and unique approach to hand analysis as a means to understand one's life purpose deeply resonated with me.  In addition, I came to realize that palm reading has been a mysterious affecting force my life, playing a huge role in my mother's reluctant escape from Vietnam to Canada and subsequently, contributing to her fear of dying early.  I shared some of these experiences on my blog.  You can certainly expect to hear more about this fascinating art as I continue in my training!

Tah dah!
In my first newsletter I said you would hear from my monthly.
That's nonsense.
Monthly is too much :)
Please know you will hear some joanie-style chirping seasonally (Spring, Summer, Autumn + Winter) as I cook up adventures.  If you ever need me, I'm scheming away at www.joantrinhpham.com :)
Much much love,

Be The Type You Is + Palmistry Kindergarden

7/1/2013

What a super amazing and profound weekend.
Palmistry Kindergarden, also known as the International Institute of Hand Analysis' Life Purpose Hand Analysis Intensive was certainly an intensive.  I have returned to Vancouver with a lot of insight and appreciation about who I am; my strengths, my weakness, where I find my greatest joy and satisfaction in life - all that good stuff and more.  I have come back with a super curious and voracious liberated inner palmistry nerd.  There will be more eloquent blog posts to follow detailing this.

For now I want to share some learning doodles:

I also wanted to share my very favorite thing I learned:
Picture
The hand olds a blueprint of not only our life purpose, the juiciness of what gives our lives meaning here on Earth University but it revels to us our quirks, our character, our natural propensities and allurements.  ALL OF THIS IS PERFECT JUST AS IT IS.  How awesome and liberating to just be who I am.
Be the type you is, as Richard puts it :)

This universal truth is showing up every where.
No doubt it's big time resonating presently :)  Take for example Thich Nhat Hanh's version:
Picture
My homegirl Lady Gaga offers up a full-blown pop anthem for the 21st century about celebrating being the type you is:
And of course, my recent most favorite quote from the Godfather of Nerds about not being afraid to die and being all of ourselves:
Picture
Phenomenal.
Blow your minds by listening to the full commencement speech he did for Wesleyan University this past May 2013.

Then, really go and blow your minds by taking a moment to acknowledge how truly awesome and perfect you are, just as you are, right now, in this moment.
AWESOME.

Mission possible, all systems go ...
Set your phasers to fun :)

Here's another example of how being exactly who you is, all in your brave vulnerability, is truly awesome.  Thanks Kevin Breel!
